I’m sitting here, staring at this screen, and I’m not sure where to start. So I guess I’ll take the easy route and start from the beginning.

I met Courtney and Matthew when they were on vacation in Florida from Ohio. They’d found me through a hashtag on Instagram, and Court’s mom, Mary, hired me to photograph the newly engaged couple. We met on a breezy day at the House of Refuge beach in Stuart, Florida, and with waves and coral rocks surrounding us, we had a wonderful, laughter-filled session as the sun set.

When I gave this couple a tight hug at the end of that day, I thought that’d be the last time I’d do so. They were set to marry in Ohio a year later, and I wished them all the best.

But, the thing is, there’s more than just photos happening during most of my photo shoots, including Court’s and Matt’s. There’s this magic happening between me and them. I get to know them in a special way. I get to see things other people don’t see, or look past. I see the little glimmer in his eyes at her sight, and the way he makes her laugh real loud, and how she fits perfectly in his arms and feels so safe in there. I see that, and my camera captures it.

Court and Matt loved these moments and how they were captured so much, that they flew me out to Ohio to document their wedding day. My gratitude for that is immense.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith, as they’re now called, got married in the most beautiful setting – the woods by a barn in Pleasant Hill, Ohio. It was all so gorgeous, I had a hard time narrowing down which photos to include on this post. So, be warned, it’s a very long one.

I hope I captured your day how you envisioned, you two. A big, tight air hug from Florida. <3
